Samsung Flags Off Its Olympic Program for the London Olympics 2012

New Delhi, November 03, 2011: Digital technology leader, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. today flagged off its Olympic Program for the London 2012 Olympic Games by signing a MoU with the Indian Olympic Association to become the ‘Olympic Partner’ for the Indian Contingent to the London 2012 Olympic Games. The MoU was signed by Raja Randhir Singh, Secretary General, IOA and Member, International Olympic Committee and Mr. J. S. Shin, President & CEO, Samsung South West Asia in the presence of Mr. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, President, Indian Olympic Association. Samsung India has become the Official Sponsor of the Indian team in the category of Consumer Electronics, IT and Telecommunications.

Samsung also announced the launch of the ‘Samsung Olympic Ratna’ Program whereby it is providing scholarship support to six, top performing Indian athletes who have qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Samsung Scholarship Program is patterned on the lines of the Olympic Solidarity Fund and will support the training expenses of the players till the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Samsung Olympic Ratnas for the Year 2011-12 are:
Shooters: Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Ronjan Sodhi
Boxers: Vikas Krishan Yadav, Laishram Devendro Singh
Archery: Deepika Kumari

Announcing Samsung India’s Program for the London 2012 Olympic Games, Mr. J.S. Shin, President & CEO, Samsung South West Asia said, “Samsung is committed to strengthening the Olympic movement globally as well as in India. I take great pleasure and pride in announcing our sponsorship of the Indian contingent to the London 2012 Olympic Games as ‘Olympic Partner’ as well as the Samsung Olympic Ratna Program for the Year 2011-12.
