~ Brings together the qualifying boxers and top officials on a common platform to celebrate their qualification ~

New Delhi, Saturday 14 April, 2011: IABF, Monnet Ispat & energy ltd. – the official sponsors of the Indian Boxing team; along with Percept Sport & Entertainment Ltd (A division of Percept India Ltd) believes in celebrating the success of our national stars and endeavours to adulate the achievements of them, hosted a felicitating ceremony today to honour the successful pugilists from the Indian contingent who have qualified for the upcoming London Olympics 2012.

The biggest ever boxing contingent to have qualified for the Olympics comprises of accomplished pugilists like Vijender Singh, Jai Bhagwan, Manoj Kumar, Shiva Thapa and Sumit Sangwan, who will represent India in various weight categories at the games. The event aims at bringing together the top Indian Amateur Boxing Federation officials, coaching staff and other distinguished guests to honour the boxers on their qualifying within the international qualification competitions and pepped them on achieving glory at the upcoming Olympics games.

Commenting on the felicitation ceremony, Mr. Shailender Singh, Joint MD, Percept India ltd. said, “Boxing is our biggest medal hope at the Olympics and Percept being the flag bearer of Boxing in the country has decided to honour the boxers as they prepare to bring glory to the country yet again after a brilliant performance at the CWG. This is the largest ever Boxing contingent from India to qualify for the Olympics and thus gives us a once in a lifetime opportunity to salute their achievements. This event is our small token of appreciation of their contribution to Indian sports and is a gesture from our end for their selfless service to the nation.”

Boxer Vijender Singh, who will represent India in his third Olympics after 2004 Athens Olympics games and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games said, “It gives me immense happiness to be a part of this elite group of pugilists and makes me feel honoured to be felicitated by a media entity like Percept India. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Shailender Singh and the entire Percept Universe for encouraging me and my fellow compatriots for the upcoming Olympic Games. I would like to promise on behalf of all us boxers to give in our best in all the categories we represent India in and to bring in extensive laurels and glory to the country.”
